I first started at Woodlands Animal Sanctuary in 2014 doing night checks for the animals, after around a year I was offered a full time job as an animal carer. I have recently started my NVQ level 2 diploma in work based animal care, hopefully I will have completed this by October 2017.
My main role at the sanctuary is looking after the stable animals, which include horses, donkeys, sheep, goats, ducks, chickens, aviary birds, rabbits and guinea pigs. Most of my recent experience is working with horses but, my knowledge is fast growing around the other animals I am currently working with!
Outside of work, I have my own two ponies, one of which is retired and the other has started his training to become a ridden pony. I also have a rescue Lurcher, who is coming out of her shell more and more each day. From a young age, I have always supported animal rescue as I believe every animal deserves a chance to live a happy and healthy life.
My job here at the sanctuary has helped my confidence and self-esteem grow massively and continues to do so as I continue to learn about each different animal and their behaviours.
